Joseph E. Garcia, Ph.D., University of Utah in Organizational and Social Psychology, is Associate Dean and Professor of Management and has been at Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics at Western Washington University since 1985. He is also an alumnus of Western Washington University’s Masters program in Psychology with an emphasis in college teaching. Over the course of his career he has taught students in community colleges, universities and industry on topics such as managerial skills, managing diversity, change management and comparative management. |

In terms of teaching scholarship, he has served as an Associate Editor of the Journal of Management Education and currently serves on its board of reviewers. Joe has also presented on the topic of Management education at conferences in the US, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. He has published several books, book chapters and articles on management education, leadership, diversity and collaboration technology. In 1999 Joe received the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society’s Distinguished Service Award and in 2000, the Organizational Behavior Division of the Academy of Management recognized him for exceptional leadership and service for his work as chair of their strategic teaching initiative. In 2000 he was the recipient of the Western Washington University Diversity Achievement Award. In 2008, Joe was selected as the recipient of the Peter J. Frost Excellence in Mentoring Award by the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society. Contact
