Students who have not taken MIS 220 at WWU or an equivalent course at another college but feel that they have sufficient background in Windows XP, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel may take an exam to establish this equivalency.

This exam will generally be administered during registration, and a student may take the exam only once per quarter.

The dates for the Winter 2010 MIS 220 testout sessions have not been determined yet.    When they are determined, this website will be updated and the dates posted.

The MIS 220 testout requires a hands-on exam to be completed with 80% proficiency in the Excel component (70-80% of the exam) and 80% overall proficiency (combined score). The following areas may be tested. You will have one hour to complete the exam.

1. Format, copy, backup and manage files and folders in Windows Explorer.
2. Conduct simple searches on the Internet.
3. Enter and edit text, change fonts, run the spell and grammar check, copy, paste and insert objects, add headers and footers, add footnotes and endnotes, format paragraphs and documents, and work with multiple documents in Microsoft Word.
4. Enter and edit constants, format cells, work with absolute, mixed and relative cell references, use formulas and functions, sort data, and create and edit graphs, using Microsoft Excel.

The exam will be given in the Parks Hall computer lab in Parks Hall 210.
