Course Registration

Space availability

The heaviest demand for classes is during the hours from 10am to 2pm. Classes offered at other times often have space. Consider enrolling for an earlier or later class. If a class is full, please continue to check the web. Spaces may open up as students are continually changing schedules throughout the Registration Period.  Occasionally professors maintain a waiting list for students who wish to get into a filled class. You may contact the professor to see if it is possible to get permission to enroll in the class.

Registration Appointment

Your registration appointment is the earliest time you are allowed to register.  You can still register anytime after your appointment time during the registration period.

Applying for Graduation

You must apply for graduation at least two quarters prior to the quarter your plan to graduate.  Please contact the department office (Parks Hall 315; 360-650-3910; econ@wwu.edu) to set an appointment for your Senior Evaluation.  You are advised to make this appointment at least a month before the deadline date for your Degree Application.  The Deadline Dates for Degree Application for each quarter are listed on the Registrar's Office web page:     http://www.wwu.edu/depts/registrar/pdfs/degree_application.pdf.

SENIOR EVALUATION PROCEDURES

 1.         Contact the department office to set up an appointment with the Chair for a Senior Evaluation, and to obtain the appropriate paperwork for your particular major program.  You must bring the following documentation to your appointment:

  • A copy of all your college-level transcripts – unofficial is acceptable.  You may access your WWU’s unofficial transcript via Web4U, from Western’s home page:  http://www.wwu.edu/.   Transcripts from other schools are usually available through their web page.
  • A completed “flowchart” with grades of completed courses and notation of when the remaining courses will be taken.
  • A detailed written schedule of all your remaining courses.  This includes quarter and time of these courses.  This information can be obtained from ClassFinder, from this web page:  https://www.admin.wwu.edu/pls/wwis/wwsktime.SelClass
  • A completed “Senior Evaluation” form.
  • Financial Economics Majors must bring a copy of their signed “Finance Advising Form,” which they received when they met with Dr. Earl Benson.

The Chair of the Department will not meet with you unless all the documentation is presented at the time of the appointment.

 2.         At your appointment, the Chair will review the documents and will sign the appropriate  form, which you will then submit to the Registrar’s Office in Old Main 230.

 3.         For further information on graduation requirements, please consult the Registrar’s Office website:  http://www.wwu.edu/depts/registrar/.
