During your second year in the MBA Program you may choose to specialize in a specific area or take electives in a wide area of study. To accomplish this you may choose 16 credits from the MBA electives (4 classes) offered below or up to two MBA 500 Independent Study classes (10 credits total) and/or up to two 400-level business courses (10 credits total) under advisement. These electives are subject to change on a year-to-year basis but are a good representation of courses available recently. If you are interested in pursuing a specialty in the area of Sustainable Business you should know that the Western MBA Program was recently named a Top 100 MBA Program in the world in Social Responsibility by the Aspen Institute in its annual "Beyond Grey Pinstripes" rankings. We offer a flexible and comprehensive array of classes in the area.
Through a combination of MBA and Environmental Studies Electives combined with classes from other areas such as Environmental Economics, Strategies for Sustainability, Environmental Accounting and others you can build a Sustainable MBA that is unique and tailored to your particular area of interest.
