General Admissions Criteria

Current MBA admissions criteria include undergraduate GPA, GMAT score, a resume, and a statement of purpose:
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA is required for the last 90 quarter hours or 60 semester hours of undergraduate study.  Occasionally, the MBA admissions committee recommends an exception to this requirement when other evidence suggests the likelihood of success in the program.
  • The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) is a standardized test given by the Graduate Management Admission Council and is used to assess skill levels in areas that have been found to contribute to success in graduate programs.  The GMAT is not a test of specific business knowledge but is a general test, much like the SAT, that tests basic quantitative, reasoning, verbal and analytical writing skills.

The admissions committee does not use predetermined cutoff points for GMAT scores – recently, successful applicants have achieved an average score of about 540 - 580. The GMAT can be scheduled online by visiting
www.mba.com and navigating to the "Taking the GMAT" page.
  • A current resume and a statement of purpose  explaining a candidate’s rationale for pursuing the MBA provide additional information to the admissions committee and complete the MBA application.  (Please click on the "statement" link above to view the requirements for the statement).
GMAT exam information may be obtained by writing to:
