Dr.
Peter Haug- Professor in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management
Education- (1986) BA, State University of New York at Fredonia; MA University of Maine; MBA, College of William & Mary; MPhil, University of Edinburgh; PhD, University of Washington.
Background- Professor Haug teaches courses in Designing and Improving Operations, Project Management, Supply Chain Management, and Manufacturing Strategy. From 1997-1998, he taught as a Fulbright Lecturer in the MBA program at Renmin University of China in Beijing, China, and in 1998-1999, he had a professional development leave at Strathclyde University in Glasgow, Scotland. From January - June 2001, he was a visiting professor in the Department of Engineering at the University of Iceland in Reykjavik. His research interests are in global manufacturing strategy and location decisions and the implementation of lean manufacturing.
Dr.
Mark Springer- Associate Professor in Manufacturing and Supply
Chain Management
Education- (1987) BA, University of Cincinnati; MBA, PhD, Vanderbilt University.
Background- Professor Springer currently teaches the ERP and Quality Management courses as well as the senior seminar in Manufacturing Management. His research has appeared in the European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of Operations Management, and Computers and Industrial Engineering.
Dr. Stella Hua- Associate Professor in Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management
Education- PhD, University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Background- Professor Hua earned her Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and MBA degree from Baylor University. Prior to joining the faculty at Western in Fall 2002, she held a faculty position at Oregon State University. Professor Hua is certified by APICS in the Production & Inventory Management area (since 2001) and is a recipient of the APICS Education & Research Foundation Plossl Fellowship. Her research focuses on process improvement, product innovation, and supply chain integration. Her work has appeared in IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Production Innovation Management, Computers and Operations Research, and Case Research Journal. Professor Hua teaches Operations Management and Supply Chain Management at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Mr. Jere Hawn- Lecturer, Department of Decision Sciences
Background- Jere Hawn is an Adjunct Faculty member in the Department
of Decision Sciences. He earned degrees at WWU and at the Naval Postgraduate
School. Prior to joining the faculty at Western in the winter of 2001,
Jere worked in industry for 20 years. His experience include various
positions as operations manager, quality manager, Baldrige Examiner,
director of global logistics, and executive leadership positions in
business and in state governments. He teaches Operations Management.
